Does the Great Salt Lake Freeze?

Does the Great Salt Lake freeze?

The Great Salt Lake in Utah does not freeze – mostly thanks to its highly salty nature. Water with high salinity – or salt content – must drop to colder temperatures than freezing, and Utah rarely sees the kind of frigid temperatures that would be required for the Salt Lake to freeze entirely. Every so often, “icebergs” can be spotted meandering across the lake, as fresh water that makes its way in will still freeze the moment temperatures allow for it, even if the salty water surrounding it hasn’t.
