Idahoans are well aware that our state is one of the best places in the country. Well, it looks like the rest of the nation is taking notice of this fact as well. Lonely Planet is a popular travel company who has a wide range of travel guide books and other resources. They just released a list of the Best Places To Visit In 2018, and near the top of the list is a place that Idahoans will instantly recognize. Take a look.

Lonely Planet released a list of ten destinations all over the country as The Best Places To Visit In The U.S. In 2018. They describe these ten locations as "underrated, rejuvenated and out-of-this-world spots". The California Redwoods were ranked as number one, but Idaho ranked second!

Coming in at number two is our very own Boise, Idaho. Our state's capital city topped places on the list like Chattanooga, Cincinnati, Florida's Space Coast, and Midcoast Maine. It looks like Idaho's big small town is making quite the name for itself.

Lonely Planet described Boise as one of the "coolest" cities in the country, with its blossoming art community and plethora of craft breweries, wineries, and festivals. Boiseans have been proud of their city for a long time, but it's nice to see it getting some national recognition.

Perhaps the city's most impressive attraction is the 25-mile Boise River Greenbelt. The greenbelt follows the mighty Boise River through urban and natural areas. It's both a means of easy transportation for cyclists and a way of taking in the abundant natural beauty.

The list also gave a shout-out to Treefort Music Festival. This epic annual event is quickly making itself out to be one of the top music festivals in the West. It grows in popularity with each year, attracting thousands to the town every March.

It's nice to see Boise getting some attention for something we've long known to be true. Boise can best be described as "a big city in a small town", and that's what makes this city one of the most unique in the country.
