It’s no secret that many of our small towns are full of charm and history that make small town Ohio a beautiful place to get away from it all. (Check out these beautiful, historic towns.)
Few people probably realize that Ohio is also home to some stunning coastal towns, where life is slow-paced, the fishing is excellent and the seafood is scrumptious. If we had to pick the most charming coastal town in the state, it would have to be Marblehead. This gorgeous little town is worthy of a day trip or weekend getaway year-round (but especially in the summer). Here’s why:
At the tip of the Marblehead Peninsula, you'll find this gorgeous coastal town that's home to less than 1,000 residents.
With boating culture, excellent fishing, scenic views and nearby attractions such as Cedar Point Amusement Park and the Lake Erie Islands, there's so much to see and do in this special part of Ohio.
You can't visit Marblehead without visiting the picturesque Marblehead Lighthouse. It's the oldest continuously operated lighthouse on the Great Lakes.
Explore the surrounding grounds, picnic near the lighthouse and visit the lighthouse’s museum in the Keeper’s House. You can also tour the actual lighthouse for just $3.

While you're in town, you'll want to spend some time walking along the shores of Lake Erie, or have a beach day at Lakeside's East Harbor State Park.
