No one wants to think about getting sick or being injured, but it’s always good to know your care options before the issue is urgent. With around 100 hospitals, Nebraska has plenty of choices at which to receive care. Using rankings from US News and HealthGrove, we’ve compiled a list of the state’s best hospitals based on patient survival, patient safety, reputation, and patient ratings. Based on these factors, these 10 hospitals are reported to be the best in Nebraska.
This kids-only hospital was founded by some of Omaha's well-known philanthropists in the late 1940s. They have a HealthGrove ranking of 88/100 and a high rate of patient satisfaction.
With 341 beds and 541 doctors, patients at Bergan Mercy receive attentive, individualized care. The facility is ranked as a high-performing hospital in the area of heart failure.
Creighton features 223 beds and 251 doctors; it is a regionally-ranked hospital performing at high levels of quality in the fields of urology and gastroenterology.
Coming in at #6 in the state, Mary Lanning Hospital has 148 beds and is served by 98 doctors. Their regionally-ranked specialties include hip replacement and knee replacement surgeries.
This Lincoln hospital is #4 in the state; it has 260 beds and is served by 388 doctors. It ranks highly in the areas of COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease) treatment, heart failure, hip replacement, and knee replacement.
Methodist has earned the distinction of being a high performer in the area of gynecology; its other specialties are COPD treatment, heart bypass surgery, heart failure treatment, and knee replacement.
Bryan Medical Center, the #2 hospital in the state, has received a 5/5 star rating from former patients. With 351 beds and 407 doctors, they rank highly in COPD treatment, heart failure treatment, heart bypass surgery, hip replacement, and knee replacement.
This nationally-recognized teaching hospital contains 495 beds and is served by 530 doctors (plus a healthy population of students). Seventy-nine percent of former patients say they would recommend this hospital to others. The Med Center is ranked #43 in the nation in nephrology and #44 in the nation in urology. They also perform highly in numerous other specialties, conditions, and procedures.
