When you or a loved one are sick, you want the best care possible. Lucky for us, New Jersey has some pretty incredible hospitals, including several which are nationally recognized. No one ever wants to end up at a hospital, but if you should, the following medical centers offer some of the finest doctors and staff, cutting edge treatments and top-notch research. These rankings are based on data collected from U.S. News & World Report.
1. Hackensack University Medical Center, Hackensack
Not only is HUMC the top ranked hospital in New Jersey, it has been ranked among the top 30 hospitals in the nation for over 10 years in a row! Neurology, cardiology, urology, geriatrics and orthopedic rankings are exceptional.
ARMC’s Atlantic City Campus is home to the region’s only Level II Trauma Center, a regional psychiatric crisis center, a comprehensive center for surgical weight loss, and a complete array of inpatient and ambulatory healthcare services. This facility won the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award in 2009.
5. Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune
JSUMC rated among the top 10% in the state and the best in the county for the treatment of heart attacks. Jersey Shore University Medical Center also rated among the top 10% in the state for the prevention of surgical infection. They specialize in heart bypass surgery and COPD.
This hospital has received numerous awards including the Beacon Award for quality ICU nursing and the Women's Choice Award - America's 100 Best Hospitals for Patient Experience.
7. University Medical Center of Princeton at Plainsboro, Plainsboro
This newly constructed hospital was formerly located in Princeton. Expect the same great care in a new location. In 2015, UMCP was rated high performing in hip replacement, knee replacement, heart failure and COPD as part of U.S. News & World Report’s Best Hospitals for Common Care ratings. UMCP is one of 40 hospitals—among a total 4,600 nationwide—to receive high performing ratings for every procedure or condition on which it was evaluated.
This Bergen County hospital is renowned for its stellar nursing program. HNMC has won many awards including the Beacon Award for Nursing Excellence and Magnet recognition for excellence in patient care.
This hospital has won awards for nursing and cancer care. It also offers Monmouth County's only CARF-accredited stroke rehabilitation center, one of just two in New Jersey.
