Spend The Night In This UFO In Wisconsin For An Unforgettable Experience

If you’re taking a long trip, you’re going to have to spend the night somewhere. But why sleep on your grandmother’s uncomfortable couch or at some motel chain when you can stay in a truly awesome place? We’ve profiled incredibly unique places to stay in Wisconsin before. But the place we are going to profile today is like none other. Yes, you can spend the night in something that looks like a UFO.

As anyone from Wisconsin knows, UFOs are a big deal. But that’s not why this home looks like a UFO. It’s actually a type of house called a Futuro house. Futuro houses were the brainchild of a Finnish architect, and they were prefabricated houses made in the 1960s and 1970s. The houses were meant to be easy to transport and quick to heat. They are only 13 feet tall and 26 feet in diameter. They reflected the notion that many technological advances, specifically those involving space, were on the horizon.

After initial public enchantment, the houses became unpopular in the 1970s. People rebelled against the design and the size. Today, fewer than 100 remain in the world. So it’s a big deal that you can drive by a Futuro house, let alone stay in one. This one is located in Woodruff (northern Wisconsin), and I’ve included some pics for you.

Have you ever stayed in the Pod Up North?
