With work, school, kids, and activities, things can get busy. And all that running around can lead to some serious stress. But sometimes, you have to let all those things fall to the side and just relax. Here are 10 things you can do to relax in Wisconsin.
1. Go ice fishing.
If you really want to get away from it all, you can head up north and go ice fishing solo. It's totally relaxing and, bonus, you'll catch dinner. But it can also be a fantastic family activity.
2. Go for a hike.
Pictured here is Devil's Lake State Park, but Wisconsin has an embarrassment of riches when it comes to parks to explore. The endorphins from exercise plus the tranquility of the nature around you will instantly bring your stress level down.
3. Head out in your kayak.
There is nothing like water to put you at peace, and you can experience that by getting out on your kayak. It doesn't hurt if you're kayaking by some amazing scenery, like through the sea caves at the Apostle Islands.
4. Take a trip to Washington Island.
What better way to get away from it all than head to Washington Island? You have to go here by ferry, but your car can come, too. This island has a population of about 600.
5. Unleash your inner child at Wisconsin Dells.
There is nothing quite like going down a tall waterslide and screaming at the top of your lungs. Yes, you can totally scream at the top of your lungs and no one will look at your sideways. Let your hair down and have some fun. Your kids will like you a whole lot better.
6. Treat yo self at Kohler Waters Spa.
This place is just absolute luxury. Located in the fabulous American Club Resort, you will feel like a million bucks after being pampered at this incredible spa.
7. Stop and smell the roses at Olbrich Botanical Gardens.
This saying is so true because when you stop and think about what it takes for life of any type to flourish, it's incredible. You'll see all sorts of beautiful flowers here at Olbrich Botanical Gardens.
8. Sip some wines at Cold Country Vines and Wines.
You might not know this, but Wisconsin has an emerging wine scene. Wine is best enjoyed at a local winery.
9. Take a mini-vacay at The Speckled Hen Inn Bed and Breakfast.
Great B&Bs are one of Wisconsin's best kept secrets. We love The Speckled Hen Inn, located on a 50-acre property in Madison and complete with a sheep farm.
10. Learn how to ride a horse at Dream A Horse.
Boy, there is nothing quite like exploring nature while riding a horse. Dream A Horse offers an awesome experience for seasoned and new riders. You will have an unforgettable time riding through the Kettle Moraine Forest.
Just reading about these things is making me smile. Go out and enjoy!
