Whether you’re trying to rekindle romance, or just want to stay in a place different than the Super 8, bed and breakfasts are a great choice. Lucky for you, Wisconsin has a TON of awesome bed and breakfasts to choose from. But so as to not make this article 1,000 pages long, we narrowed it down to eight you need to check out (or check into….).
1. Journey Inn, an eco-retreat (Maiden Rock)
I had never heard of an eco-friendly resort before I researched Journey Inn, but this sounds like just the peaceful setting you are looking for. In addition to this beautiful setting, you can get a number of services such as massage, life coaching and a Japanese soaking tub. You'll enjoy getting away from it all, but you are also just an hour from St. Paul, Minnesota and a few miles from Lake Pepin.
2. Old Rittenhouse Inn (Bayfield)
When I think of traditional bed and breakfasts, this is what I think. But you'll get more than just standard fare here...there'a gourmet restaurant right here. There are three different buildings to choose from, and you'll get a fireplace as well as a whirpool. Awesome! And check out those views of Lake Superior!
3. Honeybee Inn Bed and Breakfast (Horicon)
Cozy, beautifully-appointed rooms and great breakfasts make this a great bed and breakfast to check out. Body jet showers and deluxe whirpools will make your stay even better. And if this isn't serene enough for you, check out the nearby Horicon Marsh Wildlife Area.
4. Spider Lake Lodge (Hayward)
When you visit the Wisconsin Northwoods (which you should totally do, by the way), this is the perfect place to stay. I've always wanted to stay in a log cabin, and so here's your chance to do it. The log lodge is from 1923, so tons of history here. Get yourself a big country breakfast before heading out on the ski trails or golf course!
5. Inn at Cedar Crossing (Sturgeon Bay)
This bed and breakfast is unique because it is in Sturgeon Bay's downtown district. That said, you don't lose any of the intimacy typically found with B&Bs. The rooms are all different, but are all very romantic. Enjoy a room with a large canopy bed or whirpool tub. And the food's scrumptious. What's more is that you are right downtown, so you can explore the shops or head over to the water and enjoy the sunset with that special someone.
6. McCormick House (Hayward)
At 128 years old, McCormick has serving guests down to a science. But the place sure doesn't look its age. You can tell from the pictures--this place is just elegant. If you want to get out of your room, you can stroll around the wonderful grounds. Guests love jumping in the hot tub, particularly when it's cool outside.
8. Three Sisters Bed and Breakfast (Danbury)
In contrast to some of the other bed and breakfasts on the list, Three Sisters is brand new as of this year. But customers are already raving about it. Basically everything is new, meaning you can be guaranteed you're getting a clean, wonderfully appointed room. The breakfast is delicious. The property on which the bed and breakfast is located is woodland, which is great to walk through.
