Lots of people are gearing up for the vacations they are going to take this summer. But why spend a lot of money and deal with long lines in the airport when you can take an epic state-cation? There is one place you need to visit in Wisconsin this summer: Baraboo. While you’re there, here are the things you shouldn’t miss.
1. Al Ringling Theater
This theater has been in operation since 1915. It's a gorgeous theater on the inside and out. It has recently been restored, and you are going to definitely want to check it out.
2. Circus World
When in Baraboo, you need to embrace its circus history. There's no better way to do that than to go to Circus World. You can see a lot of the old circus gear from way back in the early days of the Ringling Brothers. Also, you can see shows now, complete with clowns and animals.
3. Aldo Leopold's Shack
One of the most famous conservationists in America, Aldo Leopold had his shack in Baraboo. Come tour--you will be inspired, learning a lot about this man and his contributions to environmentalism.
4. Pewit's Nest
This forty foot gorge looks like something out of a fairy tale. The gorgeous waterfall and stunning green draw visitors here.
5. Downtown Braraboo
Gorgeous restored Victorian storefronts boast plenty of unique shops and enthusiastic shopkeepers. Spend your afternoon strolling down the streets and checking out the shops.
6. Devil's Lake State Park
The largest state park in Wisconsin, Devil's Lake State Park boasts 500 foot quartzite bluffs and a 360 acre lake.
7. Outlets at the Dells
If you are a fan of shopping, why not check out Outlets at the Dells? There are 51 outlet stores for you to choose from, and the deals are endless.
8. Oschner Park and Zoo
Oschner opened in 1926, and there are now 17 different animal species here. It's small, but it is charming and it's FREE.
