Here are some reasons we should actually be looking forward to winter in West Virginia. 1. Everything is pretty with snow covering it. Chriss Knisley ...even West Virginia. 2. West Virginia has great skiing and snowboarding West Virginia has several great places to ski, including Winterplace (pictured), Snowshoe Mountain, Timberline, and Canaan Valley Resort. 3. It's always warm inside a cozy West Virginia cabin. This is the annual Festival of Lights display at Oglebay Resort & Conference Center in Wheeling. 5. Guilt-free reading. Cliff Hutson/Flickr Winter is great because on cold days you don’t feel any guilt for staying inside and curling up with a good book. So when it’s supposed to snow, just head to your local bookstore and pick up something you’ve been meaning to read. 6. Picking out a Christmas tree is so fun.
