As a writer and a person who functions better caffeinated, I love coffee shops. They often have great coffee and great atmospheres, which is perfect when you’re drinking their coffee and using their Wi-Fi while you work.
Luckily, West Virginia has some GREAT coffee houses. Here are a few of them:
1. The Wild Bean in Lewisburg
The Wild Bean, located on Washington Street in Lewisburg, has the warmth of a community diner and the vibe of a hip urban coffeeshop, according to its website. Reviewers say the interior decorations make the place cozy, and that they offer a variety of freshly brewed coffee.
2. Taylor Books in Charleston
Taylor’s has been Charleston’s favorite book store and gathering place for 20 years. They serve great coffee.
3. The Daily Grind in Buckhannon
Reviewers say this place on Main Street in Buckhannon is cozy and has a huge variety of hot and cold coffees, espressos, teas and blended beverages.
4. Fairfax Coffee House
Reviewers say this Berkeley Springs cafe has great breakfast food as well as a great selection of coffee.
5. Blue Moose Cafe in Morgantown
The Blue Moose on Walnut Street in Morgantown is a local landmark. Reviewers say there’s a big selection of drinks and a friendly atmosphere.
6. Bittersweet Coffeehouse in Huntington
This Huntington cafe is dedicated to serving the best roasted coffee available, according to its website. It also serves organic smoothies. Reviewers say it has a nice atmosphere and that the staff is friendly.
7. Cathedral Cafe in Fayetteville
This place, located in an old church building on Court Street in Fayetteville, is adorable. They serve great coffee and sandwiches.
8. Almost Heaven Desserts and Coffee Shops in Bridgeport
This cafe on Main Street in Bridgeport is becoming “the area's tastiest and most unique experience,” according to its website. One reviewer called it the best coffee they had had in a while.
9. Moxxee in Charleston
This coffee shop on Morris Street in Charleston is a local favorite. There’s great coffee and outdoor seating.
10. Hot Cup in Logan
This coffee shop on Water Street in Logan bills itself as “true gourmet coffee and pastries like Logan has never experienced before.” Reviewers say it’s the place to be in downtown Logan.
11. The Coffee Mill in Weirton
This place is the city's only independently owned coffee shop, according to its Facebook page. Reviewers say the service is awesome and the baristas know how to make amazing drinks.
12. Joe N’ Throw in Fairmont
This coffee on Adams Street in Fairmont also has a pottery studio. According to its Facebook page, it’s dedicated to promoting local art, culture, music and food. Reviewers say the coffee is outstanding and the atmosphere and staff are amazing.
