West Virginia has a ton of great restaurants. Any number of them are worth visiting, but you only live once. If you’re looking to make a definitive list of West Virginia restaurants to try out before you die, here are my suggestions. These are in no particular order.
1. Cafe Cimino Country Inn in Sutton
The chef at this Sutton inn specializes in Southern Italian Cuisine and Euro/Mediterranean dishes and they are delicious.
2. The Press Room in Shepherdston
This Shepherdstown favorite serves American food with an Italian flair.
3. Hillbilly Hot Dogs
I did a whole article the other day about how great this red-neck themed restaurant is. If you’re looking for great gourmet hotdogs and a fun setting, try this Lesage restaurant.
4. The Hutte Restaurant
Taste a little bit of Switzerland at this restaurant in West Virginia's Swiss village of Helvetia.
5. Panorama at the Peak
This Berkeley Springs eatery is known as much for its gorgeous view as the delicious food.
6. Muriale's Italian Kitchen in Fairmont
This Fairmont restaurant is been serving up some of the state's best Italian food for more than 40 years.
7. Secret Sandwich Society
If the owners of this Fayetteville eatery really wanted to keep it a secret, they shouldn't have made their sandwiches so good. It's all I can talk about when I go to Fayetteville.
8. Coleman's Fish Market
This Wheeling restaurant, located at the historic Centre Market district, is famous for its delicious fish sandwiches.
9. Backyard Pizza and Raw Bar
This Huntington pizzeria serves pies made in a wood-fired oven or on the grill. The pizzas are made from scratch.
10. Pies and Pints
This restaurant that started in Fayetteville is now a regional favorite, with locations in Charleston and Morgantown in West Virginia and several in Ohio and Kentucky. Try the grape pie, it’s amazing.
11. Morrison's Drive Inn
Take a trip back in time at this drive inn in Logan, which is one of the last of its kind. Reviewers rave about the hot dogs.
12. Mario's Fishbowl
This dive bar is a classic Morgantown establishment that serves traditional pub food. Reviewers say it's cozy and the food is great.
13. Stardust Cafe
This Lewisburg restaurant gets great reviews for its delicious gourmet sandwiches and salads.
How many of these restaurants have you visited? Did you like them? What others would you add to the list? Let me know in the comments.
