Most Washingtonians are pretty easy going. Perhaps it’s the laid back West Coast attitude we tend to embody, or maybe it’s because we know life is pretty good out here. That being said, there are definitely ways to get under our skin. If you’re looking for an argument (or at least an eyeroll), one of these 9 things might do the trick.

1. When they tell you where they live, assume it's near Seattle.

Washington is a large state. Eastern Washington is a good 5-8 hour drive from Seattle, and it’s an entirely different world.
2. Talk incessantly about how much it rains.

Yes, the west side can get wet. It doesn’t rain nearly as much as most people think, however, and the result of the rain is the most beautiful lush green forests you’ll ever see. And Central and Eastern Washington get so much sun that wine grapes thrive there.
3. Tell us we must drink a lot of Starbucks.

Nothing against Starbucks, but there are thousands of other options, and any coffee-loving Washingtonian will tell you about all the small coffee shops that serve a superior latte.
4. Tell us the Seahawks suck.

Not all of us are into football, but that’s still our state team. Keep it to yourself, haters.

7. Imply we don’t know how to drive in the rain.

8. Litter.

9. Complain about anything related to nature.

Are you kidding? We have beautiful beaches, mountains, plains, forests and fields. The Pacific Northwest is amazing for the avid outdoor lover.

You’ll probably find that most Washingtonians are pretty laid back. In fact, we can easily laugh at ourselves.
