The Virginia Beach That’s Unlike Any Other In The World

Virginia’s coast is a pristine stretch of land that defines our state. While Virginia Beach is an incredibly popular summer destination (and rightly so!) there are plenty other stretches of shoreline that most folks don’t know about. One such place is rather secluded and offers another unusual element: wild ponies. A visit to Assateague Island National Seashore is rewarding not only for the natural preserve, but also for the breathtaking beauty.

Please note, some of these photographs are taken from the Maryland portion of Assateague Island. Since the National Seashore is shared between the two states, including both offers a more expansive view of this gorgeous land. For a detailed account of the island, visit the National Parks Service website.
