Waynesboro River Fest Is A Family-Friendly Spring Festival In Virginia

There’s a family-friendly spring festival on the calendar for April 28th and you won’t want to miss out! The annual Riverfest takes place in Waynesboro and features all sorts of festive outdoor activities such as arts and crafts, canoe rides, Reptile World shows, and the main attraction, the Great South River Duck Race. And the best news? It’s completely free! Here’s more on what you can expect from the 2018 Riverfest.

On April 28th, visitors from near and far will want to head to Constitution Park, located at 215 McElroy St, Waynesboro, VA 22980.

The aptly-named Riverfest takes places along the South River and is a celebration of springtime as well as a promotion of environmental conservation.

Programs and activities for all ages begin around 10am and will continue throughout the day. It's the perfect way to learn about the Shenandoah River Basin all while enjoying its beauty.

Visitors will be awestruck by some of the demonstrations, such as this Reptile World show complete with real snakes.

You'll even get a chance to interact with some of these creatures up close and personal.

For a leisurely activity, you'll enjoy floating down the river in a canoe or participating in a paddle race.

The main event is definitely the duck race. And by ducks, we mean rubber ducks, of course.

Duck certificates can be purchased during the festival or at various locations in Waynesboro before the event.

At approximately 4:30pm, the ducks will be released while spectators eagerly watch to see which duck can "swim" the fastest. The winner will take home a grand prize of $1,000 in cash and gift cards!

Throughout the day, visitors can enjoy treats from local vendors, such as the famous Lucky Duck Kettle Korn.

There will also be some vendors from the Waynesville Farmers Market offering some festive treats for the occasion.
