more difficult to find a restaurant that doesn’t become a new favorite. The following restaurants are no exception, and they just happen to be especially kind to our wallets.
1. Earl's Sandwiches (Arlington)
Delicious sandwiches are the name of the game at Earl's. There are so many to choose from, and none of them skimp out on the good stuff. The average price for each sandwich is about $9 and you won't have to worry about leaving hungry. If you feel like splurging...the hand cut french fries might be worth the extra two bucks.

If you're thinking these are just your average hot dogs...think again. These natural, all-beef franks are served up with some delightful toppings ranging from celery salt to chipotle mayo. Sides include sweet potato fries, chili cheese fries, and tater tots.
3. The Natural Marketplace (Warrenton)
This organic deli is your answer for a quick wholesome meal. For your daily dose of veggies, you'll want to try "You Got The Beet" with fresh apples, roasted beets, goat cheese, onions, and spinach all wrapped up and ready to go.
4. Garnett's (Richmond)
Garnett's describes itself as a "great good place," which gives you an idea of the lowkey and wonderful atmosphere. It's charming location in the heart of the Fan district paves way for some highly popular lunch and dinner items. For $8.75, this classic cob salad is a favorite at Garnett's.
5. Salerno (Lexington)
Sometimes you just need an incredible slice of pizza. Or plate of spaghetti. Or Italian sub. Luckily at Salerno's, you can order everything family-style and won't necessarily have to choose. Some other favorites include the meatball sandwich and Italian donuts. Yum!
6. The Little Grill Collective (Harrisonburg)
This vegetarian and vegan friendly restaurant is delicious enough to please even the heath food skeptics. This burrito is made with tempeh, avocado, and fresh pico de gallo.
7. Wildflour Restaurant and Bakery (Roanoke)
Wildflour Restaurant is a local treasure found in the Old Southwest Historic District of Roanoke. For over 25 years, this has been the spot for soups, salads, and sandwiches -- all at a wonderfully reasonable price. And cake by the slice is just $5.50.
8. Mel's Cafe (Charlottesville)
There are no bells and whistles that go into the cooking at Mel's Cafe, and that's what makes it so delicious. A typical meal at this soul food diner might include fried chicken, collard greens, red beans and rice, and a grilled donut. Even their well-made cocktails are under $10.
9. Handsome Biscuit (Norfolk)
The Handsome Biscuit serves up sweet potato biscuit sandwiches: the combination you didn't even realize you were missing. Options range from traditional breakfast (an over-easy egg and cheese) to the more unique (fried chicken with pickles and honey). Any of these tasty combos are less than $7.
10. The Local (Irvington)
The Local is one of the friendliest coffee spots in the Northern Neck which also specializes in budget-friendly bites. You can enjoy homemade muffins and organic coffee in the morning or a perfect grilled cheese sandwich for lunch.
