We all know that Vermont makes the world’s best maple syrup and cheese, but the list of great products doesn’t end there. At Shelburne Vineyards, you’ll find wines made right here in the 802 that are downright delicious and the picture perfect setting makes a trip here an absolute must. This winery in VT is open year-round and you’ll love the experience of tasting the wines right in the vineyard’s tasting room in a remote setting that is pure magic.
It all began about 35 years ago with a few grapes planted in Ken Albert's backyard.
He leased three acres of land from Shelburne Farms to grow grapes commercially.
After partnering with Shelburne neighbor Scott Prom, they combined their grape growing knowledge and home wine-making experience. This took Vermont wine to a new level.
In 2000, the first commercial vintage was made and it was incredible.
They purchased the land and expanded their harvests where grapes for reds, whites, rosés’ and ice wines. Many of these have earned "Best in Category" gold medals in International competitions.
Their vineyards now cover a total of 15.5 acres and they are all located within a 7 mile radius of the Tasting Room.
The warm and inviting, eco-friendly Tasting Room welcomes everyone from beginner tasters to experienced collectors.
For just $7 you can sample the current wines (between 8-11 selections). You can even keep the glass after as a souvenir.
Tours of the vineyard are free and available daily from May - October every hour from 1pm to 4pm. They are also available November - April on Saturdays on the hour from 1pm to 4pm.
Inside and out, Shelburne Vineyard is a perfect and picturesque destination to enjoy.
