People from Vermont are very straightforward about how they feel, especially when it comes to out-of-towners trying to change our beautiful state. Nothing is more annoying than listening to people who just moved here list off all the things they think are wrong. Really, if you don’t like it here, you’re free to go because we know that Vermont is a wonderful place. Here are just a few things that are pretty awesome about Vermont, and if you don’t agree, we respectfully ask you to please shut up.
Vermont often ranks at the top of the list when it comes to safety. In many towns it's common for residents to keep their doors unlocked and the car keys on the dashboard.
2. Ban GMOs
Vermont was the first state to pass a food labeling GMO law. We take pride knowing what goes into our bodies.
3. No McDonalds in OUR capital!
Montpelier is the only state capital in the country that doesn't have a McDonalds, and we plan to keep it that way.
Say what you want about Vermont, but if you have ever enjoyed a perfectly brewed cup of coffee from a Green Mountain Coffee K-Cup... You're welcome.
5. Small? No way!
It has been said that if you flatten out all of the mountains, Vermont could be bigger than Texas.
6. Winter Olympians
When it comes to winter sport olympians, there is no better state than Vermont. The 2014 Sochi Olympics had 14 Vermonters, which is more olympians per capita than any other state.
Vermont made cheese is fresh, local and absolutely delicious.
8. Birthplace of presidents.
Of the 44 presidents of the United States, TWO have hailed from the Green Mountain State. Coolidge and Arthur.
9. Maple Syrup
Our delicious maple syrup not only tastes amazing, but it's made by good old, hardworking Vermonters. Liquid gold, indeed!
You don't need to be a Phish Head to be proud of this little Burlington based band who skyrocketed to international fame.
11. Swimming Holes
Vermont has some of the best swimming holes you'll ever find. They are magical... and plentiful!
12. More (and better) breweries.
When it comes to the state with the most breweries per capita, Vermont tops the list. It's tastier, too!
