VT Posted in Vermont August 24, 2016 by Kristin Grimes Every True Vermonter Has Had These 16 Bizarre Experiences At Least Once Vermont is a unique and quirky state, but sometimes even the best of us gets thrown for a loop. Just when you think you’ve seen it all, one of these bizarre things happens. 1. You’ve experienced a green Christmas. Flickr/Rich Bah Humbug! It doesn’t feel like the holidays without a blanket of snow. 2. Instead of stopping at a train crossing, you’ve stopped for cows. Flickr/fritzmb They moooooove at their own pace. 3. You've entered a house without a “no shoe” policy. Flickr/Caitlin Regan Between the mud and snow, we are inclined to take our shoes off inside all homes, no matter what time of year it is. 4. You were offered Aunt Jemima syrup. Flickr/Mike Mozart Ewwww! Are we supposed to eat that?! 5. You’ve washed your car between November and May. Flickr/kelly constabaris Seriously, what’s the point? 6. You've been caught in a spontaneous snow storm without a snow brush and/or ice scraper. Flickr/Chris Betcher Somehow your ice scraper isn’t in your car so you had to use whatever you had on hand - usually a credit card. 7. You've been accused of having an accent by an out-of-stater. Flickr/Pablo Fernández For example, mountain vs. moun’in. 8. You had a school snow day. Flickr/Nate Merrill Vermonters are tough, and we can make it to school despite a foot of newly fallen snow. 9. You’ve had an easily drivable mud season. Flickr/Paul Moody It’s often harder to drive through the mud than the snow. 10. You’re at a social gathering and more people are drinking Budweiser than VT craft beer. Flickr/GMT 02:37 We love our great Vermont beer. 11. Someone from Vermont orders a soft serve ice cream. Flickr/Victor What’s that? Oh! You mean a creemee! 12. You meet a family who gets by on one job. Flickr/bark Living in Vermont is great, but it’s also expensive so second jobs are often necessary. 13. You go somewhere and meet another Vermonter you DON’T know through 6 degrees of separation. Flickr/garden beth Vermont is a small state and we are all connected in some way. 14. You've left the house in shorts and went back bundled up with a coat and scarf you bought at the nearest store. Flickr/GregMP Maybe one day we’ll learn to keep an extra set of clothes in our cars. 15. You switch from "heat" to "A/C" in the same day and back again. Flickr/hb9252 I'm guilty of this. All day, every day. 16. You’re disappointed to come back from vacation. Flickr/Ken Lund There’s really no place like home. What do you think is better, the first day of vacation or the first day you get home? What other bizarre things happen in Vermont?
