What is winter in Utah like?

Winter in Utah can be cold and snowy, with short days and long nights (all the better for viewing Christmas lights). The coldest months of the year are December and January, when highs can sometimes not even reach above freezing. Most of the state experiences snow, and this makes for some truly delightful Christmas shenanigans when the time is right. Of course, there have been some record-setting winter storms in Utah that went down in the books, but these events are fairly uncommon and only occur every so often. Interestingly, Utah gets about as much snow as Colorado does every year, which makes sense, considering the two states are neighbors.
