1. Matthew Davis
Actor Matthew Davis was born in Salt Lake City in 1978. He attended Woods Cross High School and the University of Utah. He plays Alaric Saltzman in the television show “Vampire Diaries.”
2. Patrick Fugit
Patrick Fugit was born in Salt Lake City and attended East High School. He’s starred in several movies, including “Almost Famous,” “White Oleander,” and “Saved!” His most famous role thus far is that of Officer James Gilpin in “Gone Girl.”
3. John Gilbert
Famous silent film star John Gilbert was born in Logan in 1895. He co-starred with several beautiful leading ladies, including Greta Garbo and Lillian Gish. Gilbert died of a heart attack at age 40.
4. Derek Hough
Famous ballroom dancing star Derek Hough was born in Salt Lake City in 1985. Before he became famous as a five-time winner on Dancing with the Stars, he studied in London and starred in the stage production of Footloose: The Musical. He also danced at Radio City Music Hall in the 2015 New York Spring Spectacular.
5. Julianne Hough
Julianne was born in Orem in 1988. She began competing in ballroom dancing competitions at age nine. She starred in the 2011 remake of Footloose, and is a two-time champion of Dancing with the Stars. Julianne is also a talented singer.
6. Donny Osmond
The older half of the famous brother/sister singing duo, Donny was born in Ogden in 1957. He was a teen idol in the 1970s, co-starred with his sister Marie in the Donny and Marie Show, starred in the musical production of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Dancing with the Stars and much more.
7. Marie Osmond
Marie was born in Ogden in 1959 and began singing with her brothers at an early age. Like her brother, she’s enjoyed a long music career. In addition to co-starring on the Donnie and Marie Show, she’s released several solo albums, worked as a spokesperson for several products and created her own line of dolls.
8. Amanda Righetti
Amanda Righetti hails from St. George and was the youngest in a family of eight children. She’s an actress most well-known for her roles in the television shows The Mentalist, North Shore and The O.C.
9. Chrissy Teigen
Born in Delta, Utah, in 1985, Chrissy Teigan started modeling as a teenager. In 2007, she was the cover model for the Maxim calendar. She appeared in the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition from 2010 to 2014, and has also starred in several reality television shows including “America’s Next Top Model.”
10. Loretta Young
Academy Award-winning actress Loretta Young was born in Salt Lake City in 1913 and died in 2000. She was a Hollywood icon, co-starring with Clark Gable, John Forsythe and Cary Grant.
11. Steve Young
Football quarterback Steve Young was born in Salt Lake City. He played at BYU (where he also earned a law degree), then went on to play 15 seasons in the NFL.
12. James Woods
James Woods was born in Vernal in 1947. He’s a famous actor who has won a Golden Globe Award, three Emmy Awards, and has been nominated twice for an Academy Award. His most recent work includes the movies “Jobs” and “White House Down.”
