17 Reasons To Drop Everything And Visit This One State Park In Utah
Fed by the Provo River and contained by the Jordanelle Dam, Jordanelle Reservoir is a mecca for camping, fishing, boating and more. Jordanelle State Park opened in 1995 and offers tons of recreation opportunities. Now that Utah’s weather is warming up, it’s time to visit!
1. The Reservoir
Drive up Parley’s Canyon to find Jordanelle. It’s north of Heber and about 35 miles east of Salt Lake City. The reservoir covers 3,064 acres. It’s perfect for fishing (rainbow, small mouth bass, brown and cutthroat) and boating (kayak, canoe, powerboats and fishing boats).
You’ll find tons of flora around Jordanelle State Park, especially in the spring.
Keep an eye out for mule deer, which are plentiful around the park.
4. Baby Wildlife
What’s even more charming than mule deer? Fawns!
Jordanelle has over 100 RV sites and dozens of tent sites. The Hailstone sites offer restrooms with hot showers and flush toilets, a playground, dump station and even laundry facilities.
Small mouth bass and trout abound in the reservoir. Throw out a line and catch your dinner!
Jordanelle has day-use cabanas with picnic tables and grills. You also get a reserved parking spot with your cabana reservation.

Camping doesn’t mean that you have to sleep on the ground, or drive a big RV to the park. Jordanelle has cabins to rent!
10. Water Recreation
Do it like this guy...or just sit in the boat and enjoy the ride.
Did you know that you can get married at Jordanelle State Park? The Hailstone Event Center can host up to 500 guests.

You can rent a group pavilion for family reunions and parties. Reserve up to 11 months in advance by calling 1-800-322-3770.
13. Blue Skies
When the skies are blue, Jordanelle looks simply gorgeous.
14. Foggy Skies
Foggy skies provide Jordanelle with a misty, mysterious atmosphere.
15. Boat Parade
The annual Boat Parade in July is so much fun! Jordanelle hosts other activities during the Fire on Water event, including music, fireworks and food vendors.
Watch the Park City Sailing Association Regatta in the fall. The sailboats are beautiful and the skill of the sailing crews is amazing.
Hot dogs always taste better when grilled over a campfire and consumed in the fresh, mountain air.
