Here in Texas, we’re the first ones to admit how strange we are. Rather than deny our quirkiness, we choose to fully embrace it. The following are 10 things we’re so obsessed with here in the Lone Star State. It’s borderline irrational—but we wouldn’t change a thing about that.
We can't explain it — there's just something about those bright, hot stadium lights on a Friday night that brings everyone in the town together. It's truly a beautiful thing.
...okay, Texas DOES look pretty cool. Then again, California and Florida have pretty interesting shapes, and you don't see waffle makers and tortilla chips shaped like them. I guess it all comes down to one thing: our unashamed pride to live in the Lone Star State.

This one is probably the most irrational on the list—I've never met one person who could actually explain the reasoning behind these adornments. Nevertheless, they're a tradition that runs deep, and we probably won't stop wearing them anytime soon.

Not only do we love the flowers themselves, but we're particularly obsessed with taking pictures of our children frolicking in their beauty. It's cute, admittedly, but definitely a strange practice through the eyes of non-Texans.
I get the rationale for cowboy boots in general, but out-of-staters might raise an eyebrow when they see us wearing them to formal events—or worse, with shorts. It's perfectly acceptable for us, but trying to explain ourselves to people not used to our customs can prove to be difficult.

Admit it—people floating belly-up on inflatable circles all day long is anything but ordinary. Now, I'll be the first to say that tubing is one of my favorite summertime activities, however I won't deny its absurdity. Oh well —this is Texas, we don't have to be normal.
I'm not sure why we feel the need to supersize everything. Maybe it's because of how big our state is? Or perhaps it's our pride clouding our judgement? Whatever the case may be, we've taken the saying, "Go big or go home" and ran all the way to home base with it. From food to buildings and everything in between, things truly are bigger here in Texas.
Our taste buds are extremely sensitive when it comes to barbecue. If the sauce isn't seasoned just right or the meat doesn't fall right off the bone, we want nothing to do with it. That's why we're willing to drive far and wide to get our hands on the best of the best. Our obsession might be borderline irrational, but we have no interest in changing.

Some of us even save our table numbers as souvenirs. If that isn't the mark of a die hard fan, I'm not sure what is. Ever been on an out-of-state trip and gotten hit with an insatiable craving for Whataburger? Yeah, me too, and let me just tell you, Honey Butter Chicken Biscuit withdrawals aren't fun.
Why are we so obsessed with everything about our state? There isn't one clear, correct answer, but at least we can agree on this simple fact: We're the best country in the United States. No, that isn't a typo.
