In honor of Lady Bird Johnson, the city of Austin changed the name of the lake in 2007. Johnson helped clean up the water and establish 10 miles of hike and bike trails. The next time you enjoy these scenic views, you have Lady Bird to thank.

To access it, you can park at the Austin American Statesman building at 305 South Congress Ave., Austin, TX 78704 and walk east on the trail. The boardwalk is open every day from 5 a.m. to midnight.
