Restaurants come in many varying shapes and sizes; some of them you’d never guess were restaurants at all. No restaurant has to look very flashy in order to serve great food. Despite the unassuming exterior of these 10 South Dakota restaurants, their food keeps people coming back. Next time you pass by one of these places, take a chance and stop for a meal – you’d be surprised by what they have to offer.
1. The Prop - Watertown
This little restaurant is located right by Lake Kampeska, and while the outside isn't very flashy, their food is out of this world. Their most well-known menu item is definitely their famous Garlic Burger. It's even better than it sounds, and they know exactly how to make it to perfection. The rest of their menu is pretty amazing, too, and overall you're guaranteed to have a good time.
The Prop is located at 728 S Lake Dr, Watertown.
2. The Pizza Shoppe - Martin
This quaint little pizza place in the small town of Martin consistently gets 5 stars across the board on many review sites. Their pizza is simply to die for, and everything tastes homemade and delicious. You'll never want to eat at a chain delivery place again after trying the pizza here!

3. The Corner Diner - Clark
The Corner Diner sits right where you'd expect it to in the town of Clark. Their small town cooking will make you feel right at home. All the comfort food you love is available on their menu and they're more than happy to make you a perfect meal that will keep you coming back for more.
The Corner Diner is located at 100 N Commercial St, Clark.
4. Sugar Shack - Deadwood
The Sugar Shack is a bit deceiving on every aspect. A lot of people think it's just a convenience store, and then even if they knew it was a restaurant, sugary treats are not exactly what they are known for. What this place IS known for, however, is absolutely amazing burgers. The kind of burgers that make your mouth water as soon as you see them, and the kind that you don't think you can finish because they are so huge but they're just too good that you can't stop. Many say that this place has the best burgers ever. You'll just have to stop by and try them for yourself and see what you think, but trust me, you'll love them!
Sugar Shack is located at 22495 US-385, Deadwood.
5. Prairie Dog Cafe - McLaughlin
This cafe may seem cute and small on the outside, but inside they are serving food that is huge in taste. They're known for their BBQ and for a good reason. They'll serve up the best of the best from their grills and you'll enjoy every bite.
The Prairie Dog Cafe is located at 123 Main St, McLaughlin.
6. JP's Family Dining - Hot Springs
Doesn't that look delicious? And it is, because JP's Family Dining strives for great food every single day. Though it's fairly small inside and out, it's well worth the visit just to try some of their menu.
JP's Family Dining is located at 627 N River St, Hot Springs.
7. Philly Ted's - Rapid City
When you see a little restaurant in a strip center that isn't the usual chain places, and it's in between other normal stores, you might not take a second glance. This is the kind of place where the second glance is absolutely recommended. Philly Ted's has by far the best Philly cheesesteaks outside of their place of origin itself. Be prepared for lots of cheese on yours, and it's mouthwateringly good. You'll be eager to head right back to get more. It's just that good! Just be sure to have a lot of napkins on hand.
Philly Ted's is located at 1415 N Lacrosse St #4, Rapid City.
8. Roll'n Pin Cafe & Grille - Sioux Falls
What looks like a remodeled fast food chain in Sioux Falls (it was originally a chain that the Perkins Restaurant chain acquired in the 70s) is now an amazing restaurant known as the Roll'n Pin Cafe & Grille. They have all the good American food that is made to perfection. Burgers, chicken, and other home cooked meals are all available here for you to enjoy whether it be for breakfast, lunch, or dinner.
Roll'n Pin Cafe & Grille is located at 3015 W Russell St, Sioux Falls.
9. The Flame - Aberdeen
This place knows how to serve up the perfect steak in the perfect way. Though they might look a little bit older on the outside, their food is fresh, delicious, and made exactly how you want it every single time. No frills - just good food. Many say it's the best restaurant in Aberdeen, so why not try it out for yourself?
The Flame is located at 2 S Main St, Aberdeen.
10. Burritos on Broadway - Watertown
Burritos on Broadway seems like a simple little place that serves normal, average burritos, but they are much, much more than that. You can make your own burrito here or get some of their great choices of combinations, and every bite you take will be packed with flavor. There are not many other burrito places in South Dakota that you can get food as good as here.
Burritos on Broadway is located at 12 N Broadway, Watertown.
