1. Sylvan Lake Beach near Custer
Sylvan Lake is a local favorite and an absolute hidden gem in South Dakota. The lake has a great beach and cliffs for jumping. You are guaranteed a good time here.
2. Angostura and Sheps Canyon Recreation Areas near Hot Springs
Angostura has 36 miles of shoreline meaning plenty of sandy beaches. Perfect for a weekend of camping, fishing and lounging in the sun.
3. Lewis & Clark Lake near Yankton
Beloved by locals and travelers alike, this lake is stunning and the perfect place to play on the beach. You can also go out boating and sailing or camp right along the water. Trust us, Lewis & Clark Lake will not disappoint.
4. Ravine Lake in Huron
This beach is extra special because it is located right in town! Ravine Lake is in Huron and features picnic tables, fishing docks and most importantly, a perfect sandy beach.
5. North Point Recreation Area at Lake Andes
Just north of Fort Randall, on the Missouri River, North Point Recreation Area offers a beautiful beach. This is where the natural phenomenon of "burning bluffs" has been seen many times over the years. It's not as common anymore, but you may get lucky! Regardless, this beach is worth visiting.
6. Oahe Downstream Recreation Area near Fort Pierre
Make time to relax on the beach at Oahe Downstream Recreation Area. Come to camp and enjoy the beach all weekend.
7. Lake Vermillion Recreation Area
With sandy beaches in a secluded area, Lake Vermillion is a great getaway. Surprisingly not close to the town of Vermillion, this lake is situated near Canistota. You'll be surprised by the stunning views and activities to take part in while visiting this beach in South Dakota.
