Virginia Military Institute Museum

In 1856 Superintendent Smith accepted the Revolutionary War Musket and opened the VMI Museum. Today, the museum is home to over 15,000 artifacts. History and war buffs will love the exhibits. One that is quite peculiar though? You can see the skin of Little Sorrel, Stonewall Jackson’s faithful steed that helped him through the Civil War. It’s not just skin though, but it is replicated to basically a taxidermy horse form.

Little Sorrel landed the VMI Museum on our ‘Weirdest List’ but it is still a really neat site for those who love preserved history and artifacts.
