Kusanya Café is no ordinary coffee shop. Their name comes from the Swahili word “to gather,” and this concept shapes everything that they do. This non-profit café brews more than just coffee; Kusanya is committed to brewing community empowerment as well. By day, Kusanya provides a casual and welcoming environment for people to come together and enjoy face-to-face interactions with friends, neighbors, and newcomers. By night (or afternoon), the café turns into a collaborative space to showcase artists, poets, and musicians, and provides a forum for community meetings and activities to take place. As for their menu, built around the idea that food binds people together, Kusanya offers creative and unique breakfasts, lunches, dinners, and drinks made with the freshest high quality ingredients and makes a point to provide them all at prices affordable and accessible for all members of the community. We love the work that Kusanya Café is doing to strengthen the human bond…and they make some of the best coffee in the city.
