Buc-ee’s

Buc-ee’s is far more than just a convenience store…this place is a Texas icon—especially their beaver mascot, named for the founder, Arch “Beaver” Aplin III. They opened up their first store in Lake Jackson in 1982, offering everything you could ever need—from pastries to tacos, Dippin’ Dots ice cream to homemade fudge. Today, many of their family centers also offer huge fuel-up stations and car washes, and they market their own private label jerky, granola, candies, canned and jarred goods, and salsa. The best seller? “Beaver Nuggets”—caramel-glazed corn puffs. My mouth is watering as I type…
