Beer Can House

The Beer Can House began construction in 1968, when owner John Milkovisch “got sick of mowing the grass” (quoted from his website) and began creating an unusual mosaic of metal, rocks, and inlaid colorful marbles across his yard. From there the project grew to overtake his entire home as he began flattening beer cans to build aluminum siding. Over the years, his property has accumulated an estimated 50,000 beer cans (according to Ripley’s Believe It or Not) and actually has some functional use as well—Milkovisch says that his energy bills dropped significantly! Although it was never intended to be an “art piece,” it certainly has become a fun sight to behold, and Milkovisch has opened it up for the public to come visit on weekends.
