While Pittsburgh has repeatedly been named one of the nation’s most livable cities, it has its problems, including some areas in which Pittsburghers must be extra vigilant, especially after the sun sets. The following 10 most dangerous places in Pittsburgh are based on 2014 crime data, the most recent year available, released by the City of Pittsburgh’s Department of Public Safety.
The following list was complied based on violent and non-violent crimes and the city’s report cites the population as of the 2010 census. Violent crimes, which include both personal and property crimes, encompass homicide, rape, robbery, aggravated assault, burglary, larceny-theft, motor vehicle theft, and arson.
