We are now approaching the middle to end of summer… and beautiful days are a dime a dozen. Sometimes, it rains, and sometimes, you just don’t feel like being outside. For those occasions, you have many fun options at your disposal that you might not even know about. Here are ten awesome things to do in Pennsylvania on a rainy day.
1. Camelbeach Indoor Waterpark, Tannersville
If you want all the fun of a waterpark without the hassle of direct contact with the outside world and insects (or if it happens to be raining) then Camelbeach is waiting for you. It's the largest indoor waterpark in the state of Pennsylvania.
2. King of Prussia Mall
The second largest mall in America lies on the outskirts of Philadelphia. Go wander around and get lost. (That's what always seemed to happen to me when I went there.)
3. The National Aviary, Pittsburgh
Go look at some birds! This place is incredible, and has rooms dedicated to various ecological systems, such as jungle, marsh, and desert. They have penguins, bald eagles, burrowing owls, and MORE!
4. The Mattress Factory, Pittsburgh
Go look at some weird art. Don't just look at it, immerse yourself in it. The Mattress Factory is a museum dedicated to art installations in Pittsburgh's North Side. Some of them will leave you scratching your head and others are just plain fun. The Andy Warhol Museum is nearby, as well as one of Pittsburgh's many impressive museums.
5. IMAX Theater in the Benjamin Franklin Museum, Philadelphia
Seeing movies is always fun (if you pick a good movie) so why not intensify things a bit by making the screen GIGANTIC?! Bonus points: you can check out the Benjamin Franklin Museum while you're there. Where else can you walk through a giant, plywood heart?
6. Go Vertical Rock Climbing, Philadelphia
Just because it's raining doesn't mean you can't work out and accomplish death-defying physical feats.
7. The Lodge at Woodloch, Hawley
TREAT YOURSELF! You deserve a nice spa day. Just do it!
8. Martin Guitar Factory, Nazareth
Martin makes some of the highest quality and traditional acoustic guitars in the country. What's even cooler than that is they offer free tours of their factory. Trust me, you want to do this.
9. American Music Theater, Lancaster
Catch a show! American Music Theater regularly has concerts and Broadway musicals come through-- something for all tastes.
10. BucksMont Indoor Sports Center, Hatfield
Rain won't keep you from the game. This giant indoor sports complex has practically any field that you might need or desire for all your running-around-after-ball needs.
