What Pennsylvania’s Major Cities Looked Like In The Late 1930s May Shock You. Philadelphia Especially.

We’ve got two major cities in Pennsylvania: Philadelphia to the east, and Pittsburgh to the west. Though Philadelphia trumps Pittsburgh in terms of size, both places have contributed greatly to the culture and history of Pennsylvania. Check out these vintage photographs from our two largest cities, taken in the late 1930s (a couple of them from the early 1940s). They have been released by Yale University and the Library of Congress.

Recognize any of the places included in these photographs? Have any cool vintage photos you’d like to see on our page? Feel free to send them over, and thanks for reading!
