Oregon is full of friendly, caring folks, but that doesn’t mean we aren’t tough. Living in Oregon is endlessly inspiring, but it’s not always for the faint of heart. Here are 11 reasons people from Oregon are incredibly tough:
11. The rain can't stop us.
Many parts of Oregon (especially northwest Oregon) get tons of annual rainfall. The rain is no stranger to us, and it won't bring us down, either. Most of us don't even use an umbrella!
10. We're not afraid to be ourselves.
From a young age on, we learn to march to the beat of our own drum.
9. We know that a great view is always worth the climb.
We love to experience the beauty of nature, especially when it means working up a bit of sweat, too.
8. We do it ourselves.
Here in Oregon, we're all about the DIY (do it yourself) lifestyle. Many of us can fix our own cars, maintain our own gardens, sew, bake, and so much more. We turn challenges into interesting projects.
7. We live alongside numerous active (and potentially active) volcanos.
In fact, both Portland and Bend have volcanos within city limits.
6. We work hard.
Here in Oregon, we understand the value of a hard day's work.
5. We stand up for our beliefs.
We're not afraid to speak up for our rights and beliefs.
4. We grow our own food.
There are countless amazing farms in Oregon working hard to produce the fresh, tasty that we love so much.
3. AND we brew our own beer.
There's a reason we have such amazing beer here in Oregon. Brewing beer is not easy work, but Oregonians are known for putting in the effort to make delicious, unique beer. Oregon has an incredible amount of independent breweries throughout the state, and Portland has more breweries per capita than any other city in the country.
2. We're not afraid to try new things.
Kayaking, rock climbing, skiing, paddle boarding, knitting, bacon-covered donuts - you name it! Oregonians love to try new things.
1. We have adventurous spirits.
There are few things Oregonians love more than an adventure in the great outdoors.
