Looking for a unique hike in the Sooner State? If so, head to the Wichita Mountains to the Narrows Trail where you’ll find topography you didn’t know existed in Oklahoma. It’s filled with boulders, waterfalls, a river, and scenic views that are only accessible by hiking. It’s surprisingly not too difficult and we think you’ll love the trek to discover the beauty hiding in these mountains.

Before we get to the hike, it's only proper to first introduce you to the Wichita Mountains - rocky promontories full of natural beauty and breathtaking views. They are home to the Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge – 59,000 spectacular acres full of free-roaming wildlife.

There's an area in the mountains known as The Narrows that is home to the Forty Foot Hole - a natural depression located in the northwest section of the canyon.

The Narrows Trail is a 2.7 mile loop trail that is rated as moderate. You'll have to meander around boulders so be prepared it takes a little effort.

You can find the trailhead at the parking lot just past Lost Lake. Plan on spending a few hours enjoying the hike and bring some trekking poles - they can be helpful, especially when crossing the water along the way.
