Every waterfall enthusiast knows that the best waterfalls are the ones that are tucked away from the public eye. These waterfalls take a little extra effort to find, but their remote setting makes it totally worth it. That’s exactly the type of waterfall that Potem Creek Falls is. Nestled in the most enchanting setting, you’ll be glad you made the journey to this incredible place. This secret waterfall is sure to become your new favorite place to get away from it all.

Located near the town of Redding, Potem Creek Falls often takes the backseat to the more well-known MacArthur-Burney Falls. However, this hidden waterfall is not to be missed. You'll find it tucked away off of Fenders Ferry Road which can be reached from Highway 299.

There are no signs that mark the trailhead that leads you to the waterfall. However, you'll spot the "parking lot" (it's just a dirt pull-out) for the trailhead after you cross over the bridge that takes you over Pit River Canyon. From here you'll make the hike down to the falls.

It's an easy hike down to the waterfall. The dirt trail is about a half mile long with a slight downhill grade, making it perfect for hikers of all ages and skill levels.

Greeting you at the base of the trail is the majestic Potem Creek Falls. The waterfall is surprisingly massive with a healthy cascade of water pouring down.

During the summer, this "hidden" waterfall can be quite popular and you'll see people wading or plunging into the pool of water from the nearby rope swing. The waterfall is completely surrounded by trees and greenery, making it a good place to hang out on a hot day.

The 70-foot waterfall is simply picturesque. It's hard to believe that not many people are aware of this incredible gem hiding away in the beautiful California wilderness.
