1. Refer to "The City" as San Fran.
This is a well known way to irk a local. Of course, only visitors like to say San Fran. So, uttering San Fran really marks you, so locals don't say it. Don't make locals cringe and play it safe and just say San Francisco.
2. The Sight of a Google Bus.
It could be as well any commuter bus for Facebook or Yahoo as well. San Franciscans have an unpredictable relationship with the presence of these buses getting preference on the road, so many end up getting a little ticked off.
3. Invite them to Fisherman’s Wharf.
Some local snobbery can come out at times, and Fisherman's Wharf brings it out. Fisherman’s Wharf is a tourist trap filled with corporate chains, sea lions, and almost no residents. Any self respecting San Franciscan would steer clear unless they were showing off the spot to visitors.
4. Disrespect thier Dog.
Yes, San Franciscans care more about dogs than you'd ever think. Pets, especially dogs, are important for many Americans, but in San Francisco we more than adore dogs. San Francisco has more dogs than children. According to the Census and Animal Care and Control department data, San Francisco has around 10,000 more dogs than children.
5. Bay Bridge Traffic.
If you mention the Bay Bridge and drivers, this can be absolutely nightmarish to drive. The traffic in the San Francisco Bay area has become worse and worse, so if you live in the city and use the Bay Bridge, then be prepared.
6. Non-natives claiming to be real San Franciscans.
San Francisco has become a transient city, so people come and go quickly in the city. There's definitely pride in being able to say you grew up right here in the City by the Bay. However, don't make someone angry by claiming you're a real San Franciscan.
7. Burning Man.
Talking nonstop about your trip to Burning Man will make real San Franciscans cringe. Despite having some humble and noble beginnings, Burning Man is now the butt of plenty of jokes about salaried techies partying in the desert in their fuzzy boots and goggles.
8. Not Recycling.
Cringe-worthy all over the Bay area like Berkeley and especially of course San Francisco. Whether you need to recycle waste or throw out something permanently, this city is a leader in recycling and trash collection. The green image of San Francisco is strong due to the passionate zeal to protect the earth for all.
9. Numerous Construction Sites.

When you utter the topic of construction it brings up delays, detours, and of course traffic. The frustration and risks of living near a construction site in San Francisco are high. As the city economy is booming, so is the construction industry. There are as many cranes, as people in the city know.
10. Eat at a fast food chain.
San Franciscans are lovers of food, but chain food is not very popular here. In a city full of quality burger joints that are independently owned, it is rare to meet many San Franciscans who openly boast about eating at fast food chains. However, there will be always be disagreement the general consensus is that locals prefer locally owned spots.
