Point Arena is a tiny community located along the coast in Mendocino County, about three hours north of San Francisco.
The town is actually considered one of the smallest cities in California, with a modest population of roughly 450 people. It's the small town feel that makes Point Arena such a charming destination for tourists.
The town boasts the most breathtaking ocean views. The coast is dominated by rocky bluffs which make for pretty amazing overlooks of the seemingly endless ocean.
The town is also home to the tallest lighthouse on the West Coast. The Point Arena Lighthouse stands at a towering 115 feet, and makes for a gorgeous sight.

Just to give you an idea of how quiet that is, normal conversation is considered to be 60 decibels and a lawnmower is measured as roughly 90 decibels.
There's really no wrong time to visit this gorgeous area. The weather is absolutely lovely, no matter what time of year it is. Point Arena is characterized as having mild summers and winters, with temperatures rarely exceeding 90 degrees Fahrenheit or dipping below 40 degrees Fahrenheit.
The town's main street composes a portion of California's well-known State Route 1. Over the years the town has transformed into a quaint art community with numerous artsy shops and restaurants to enjoy.
