Though the dam served a purpose to the local community, over the decades of its existence, the water that came out showed signs of contamination. The contaminated water damaged the downstream ecosystem and prevented animals from traveling upstream as well.

It wasn't until 2004 that the powerhouse stopped generating electricity, and in 2005, the dam was demolished completely. But the powerhouse remained...and over the years has become a ghostly sight to the area. There's no way an abandoned, eerie powerhouse isn't slightly creepy. Especially with its location along the water.

While the powerhouse is indeed a creepy sight, it actually sits right next to a picnic table. The entire area, which was formerly off limits, was converted into a public park. While some might be tempted to walk around inside the abandoned powerhouse, do so at your own risk, or really, you might want to just gaze from afar. After several years of disuse, it's not in the best condition, and slowly crumbling. Although a nice picnic table and pretty waterfront add a little bit of life and beauty, there's no denying there's a haunting presence to not just the powerhouse, but the park as a whole.
