We Dare You To Take A Trip To This Eerie, Abandoned Dam In North Carolina

In Sanford, along the Deep River, exists a haunting site of what once was. Since the 1800s, the Deep River had been dammed, but in 1921 the Carbonton Dam was built. It was 17 ft. tall and stretched for over 200 feet, generating power to the area. But while the dam is now long gone, the most haunting remain is, in fact, the tall powerhouse.

Some find mysterious beauty in old, crumbling ruins, while others find it to be strange, scary, and haunting. Have you visited the area for yourself, or want to now?

Speaking of abandoned, North Carolina is home to an abandoned castle with an extremely mysterious past.
