10 Hidden Attractions Locals Want To Keep For Themselves In New York

There are plenty of popular attractions around New York that most of us know about, but no matter how beautiful they may be nobody likes to deal with crowds or enjoys waiting in long lines. Giving you a list of lesser-known places that we wish we didn’t have to share with anybody else, here are some of the Empire State’s more hidden attractions that us locals love.
1. Big Moose Deli & Country Store - Hoosick
Hiding away out in Rennselaer County, the town of Hoosick is where New Yorkers can find the Big Moose Deli. One of the most quirky places you'll ever pay a visit to in the Empire State, the country store that also doubles as a restaurant is impossible to miss. Looking like a place Pewee Herman himself would fully approve of, stop in for a bite to eat or shop around to discover tons of local items and gifts you'll want to take home with you.

2. Chestnut Ridge Park - Orchard Park
Less than a half-hour outside of the city of Buffalo, Chestnut Ridge Park is home to a variety of outdoor attractions that'll grab your attention. Most people have heard of this Erie County gem because it's where you'll find Eternal Flame Falls, but many people have never experienced something else that this park offers - it's toboggan slides! During the winter when Western New York is covered in snow, you can bring your own toboggan and slide down the park's
two historic chutes that will send you far off into the snow.

3. The Milleridge Inn - Jericho
A magical place to visit during any holiday when you find yourself out on Long Island,
The Milleridge Inn offers both an amazing place to eat and charming shops that you'll want to set aside time to visit. The building is full of history and dates all the way back to the late 1600s, now serving as one of the best restaurants in the Jericho area. After guests are done dining they can walk to the other side of the parking lot to visit the Milleridge Shopping Village. Explore the shopping village and you'll find a general store, cafe, Christmas shop and a variety of other stores in the village.

5. Wing's Castle - Millbrook
Down in the Hudson Valley between the east side of the river and Connecticut, there's one of the most unique castles and B&B's that you'll ever see in New York. Created over a 40 year period and made up of over 500,000 stones,

While many of our favorite outdoor attractions tend to close during New York's colder months, this Adirondack gem is one that remains open! A private park that features four breathtaking waterfalls and trails unlike most you'll find in this region let alone New York,
High Falls Gorge is like something out of a fairytale. During the winter when this park is covered in snow and frozen, you can rent snowshoes here so you're still able to enjoy the view.
