The Northtowns vs. Southtowns battle has been going on in Buffalo for as long as we can remember. Whichever area you call home, you have to admit that Buffalo’s suburbs have plenty of appeal. We’re not picking favorites – and stay tuned for more features on our other favorite towns in the 716 – but this place seemed like a good place to start! Here are 8 reasons to drop everything and visit this one charming town just outside of Buffalo.
1. Clarence, NY was the first town to be established in Erie County in 1808.
Clarence residents (and those traveling from out of town) appreciate several events in the town year-round. Some of the most popular destinations are The Great Pumpkin Farm in the fall and the Taste of Clarence in the summer.
There are several gift shops and unique boutiques to check out in Clarence, some of which are even housed in historic buildings that are worth touring! Whether you're window shopping or have a gift in mind, you can find it all in this charming town.
Clarence is home to the largest flea market in New York State. This indoor/outdoor market and antique destination is a must-visit for anyone in search of treasures of the past.
Clarence has several great restaurants to enjoy. Whether you're looking for a more upscale meal or a casual dish, there's something for everyone in this charming town near Buffalo.
6. Get caffeinated as often as you please at one of Clarence's many coffee shops.
Skip the chains and give your Tim Horton's addiction a rest. Clarence has several quaint coffee shops to enjoy. Whether you like specialty lattes or just a good cup of joe, you can have it all in this charming town near Buffalo!
There's no club scene here, but Clarence is far from boring at night. Head to one of the local favorite bars or, our personal favorite, Penny Lane Cafe, for live music on the regular!
8. Bring the little ones along for your next visit. They're sure to love the appeal of the town!
If you have little ones, there's no need to find a babysitter for your day trip to Clarence. There is plenty for kids to do here too. Head to the local children's bookstore, take a walk or ride on the bike path, grab some chocolates from the candy store, and so much more. Clarence is fun for everyone!
