The tiny town of Reserve is probably best known for its ties to local hero, Elfago Baca. Baca was a self-appointed sheriff who survived a 36-hour standoff, during which a gang of cowboys fired 4000 rounds at him! (For more info.) Nowadays, life is much quieter in this tranquil town of 289 people, which is hidden in the Gila National Forest. But don’t let Reserve’s remote location fool you. You can still find a mouthwatering meal in the wilderness. Head to Ella’s Café and see for yourself.
