If you’re searching for holiday cheer, you can find it in New Jersey. There are great Christmas light displays throughout the state, and this list features some of the most popular. There are hundreds of private homes that participate this season with spectacular decorations, but sadly I haven’t seen them all… yet! I know that the following will not disappoint, but please, add your favorite spots to see holiday lights in the comments.
1. Christmas Spectacular on Main Street, Cranbury
VIDEO Be dazzled as 120,000 lights dance along to 19 songs at New Jersey's most magical Christmas display for charity! Though it is free to watch the show, please donate if you are able. The homeowners even offer special VIP packages for those who donate over $20. The address is 128 North Main Street, and the show runs between 6 - 9 p.m. on the following December nights: 10th, 11th, 12th, 13th and 18th, 19th, 20th, 21st, 22nd and 23rd, 25th, 26th, 27th, and 30th, with the last night on the 31st.
2. Storybook Land, Egg Harbor Township
VIDEO A whimsical wonderland all year, you absolutely can not miss the holiday season here. Children and adults alike will delight in the spectacular lights. The show starts nightly at 5 p.m. and runs until December 30th.
3. The Quarter at Tropicana, Atlantic City
Visitors will enjoy a stunning 35-foot tree and a free holiday musical light show. This incredible experience combines interactive lights, holiday music, and indoor snow!
4. Skylands Stadium, Augusta
Drive through a 1-mile course of holiday lights set to music. There will be over two million lights! Admission is $20 per carload, though you can purchase advance tickets for $17. After you've seen the show, be sure to stop at the indoor Christmas Village with crafts, entertainment, games, snacks, Santa Claus, and more. The event runs Thursday - Sunday until January 3rd.
5. The Christmas Light Show, Wall
VIDEO Now in its 10th year, it may not seem like much from the photo... but the video (from 2014) proves it is epic. Watching the show is free, but donations are appreciated and support charity.
6. Historic Smithville Lights on the Lake, Galloway
The entire village is decorated for the holidays, but the light display on the lake is the icing on the cake. Over 120 Christmas trees constructed from over 50,000 Christmas lights appear to float on Lake Meone, dancing along to music from sunset until 8:30 p.m. daily through January 6th.
7. Johnson's Corner Farm, Medford
This photo does not do the event justice. It may be the most magical Christmas display I have ever seen! Enjoy holiday lights hayrides and a new light show on the lake. A combo ticket costs $10 and is worth every penny. To see why,

8. Sea of Lights at Jenkinson's Aquarium, Point Pleasant Beach
This unique holiday celebration includes lights, decorations, and even a swimming Santa Claus! There will be crafts, games and much more, all for just $6 - including aquarium admission! This deeply discounted deal is a holiday gift from Jenkinson's to you.
9. The Cook's Christmas Lights, Jackson
VIDEO Located at 1 Carlson Court, this show features 14,000 lights synchronized to music. Donations help to support the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.
10. Holiday Lights Spectacular at Turtle Back Zoo, West Orange
This fun, free event features over 100,000 lights and lit animal figures along with ice sculpture demonstrations on select nights. Visit

This isn't one particular home, but rather a neighborhood. There seems to be a friendly competition going on for best lights on Mercer Street, between Chapel Avenue and Route 38. Deer Road, just off Chapel Avenue, is also a good spot.
13. Palmer Square, Princeton
Classically decorated, visitors will enjoy a spectacular 65-foot tree and holiday lights all around.
14. Emlen Physick Estate, Cape May
If you're looking for a lovely Victorian Christmas display, this is the place to be. The entire town of Cape May is decked out, so be sure to take a holiday lights tour.
