When you think of New Jersey, cheese farms are likely far from what first comes to mind. The dairy industry doesn’t define our state as it does others (Wisconsin, for example), but that doesn’t mean you can’t find fresh, flavorful cheese in the Garden State. This unique cheese farm offers that, and more.
Cherry Grove Farm is a sustainable dairy farm and creamery located on 480 acres in Lawrenceville, New Jersey.
Producing award-winning cheeses, the farm offers a diverse landscape of woodland, wetland and pasture.
In addition to the dairy cows, you'll find all sorts of animals including: pigs, lambs, chickens and cats.
Their dairy cows are a mixed group of Jersey, Milking Short Horn, Friesian, Red Ayreshire and Dutch Belted cows. This variety allows for creativity and diversity in the cheese making process, leading to unique and rich flavors. Cows are raised without hormones, antibiotics or steroids.
They offer a wide variety of cheeses including their beloved (and award-winning) Buttercup Brie.
Other selections include: Toma, Herdsman, Harvest Tomme, Lawrenceville Jack, Abruzze Jawn, Full Nettle Jack, Havilah, and Havilah Reserve.
In addition to cheese, you can find a variety of other local products.
The honey is a favorite. Their farm store is a great spot for conscious gift shopping. Discounts are offered on Mondays to students, seniors and active military (with valid ID).
Stop by for a one-of-a-kind tour.
From April - October, visitors can enjoy group pasture walks led by farm employees, each focused on a different aspect of the farm. Learn about local flora and fauna, the land itself, history and more. Private tours are affordably priced and are tailored to suit your interests.
Don't miss their farm-to-table dinners and other special events.
The farm-to-table dinners are BYOB and give you an in-depth look at the farming process. The multi-course meals are always spectacular. Visitors can also enjoy demonstrations and classes (like the recent Mozzarella from scratch event) and fun festivals like the Cow Parade.
