If you live in New Hampshire, there’s a good chance you’re a true maple sugar aficionado – from pouring it on pancakes to glazing salmon, you know this natural sweetener is as versatile as it is delicious. And you undoubtedly know on a basic level that syrup comes from maple trees that are tapped – but do you know what happens after that? Lucky you – your chance is coming right up! The annual New Hampshire Maple Weekend takes place March 24–25, and sugarhouses around the state are opening their doors for demonstrations and samples. The following sugarhouses will all be great places to visit! Just be aware that the weather can impact sugaring and what’s being demonstrated.
During Maple Weekend Babel's Sugar Shack is open Saturday 10–4 and Sunday 10–3. Visit for tours and demonstrations of the sugaring process, along with free samples of syrup plus coffee and baked goods. Find it at 323 Hurricane Hill Road, Mason, NH 03048.
This is the place to get a sense of a much larger maple operation – each Saturday in March they're open from 10–3 for tours of this 100,000 tap farm that dates back to 1954. They also have a great show room/gift shop. Visit at 64 Sugar House Road, Acworth, NH 03602.
On the other end of the spectrum from Bascom is Beaver Brook Maple, a small hobby operation in Bow. They'll be demonstrating the construction of an evaporator during Maple Weekend! Check it out on Saturday and Sunday from 10–3 at Beaver Brook Dr, Bow, NH 03304.
This charming and picturesque sugarhouse is open for tours, maple treats, and kids activities on Saturday from 11–4 and Sunday from 10-3. Find it at 266 Black Mountain Road, Jackson, NH.
This charming spot is open 9–3 both days of Maple Weekend for tours, samples, and free coffee and donuts. They also have a real live buffalo you can meet! Visit at 38 Fieldstone Lane, Rindge, NH.
6. Fadden's General Store and Maple Sugarhouse, North Woodstock
If you adore old general stores and an old fashioned vibe, you'll love visiting this spot, which houses a sugaring museum within the general store that shows you how it's done. During Maple Weekend they'll be offering horse drawn wagon rides, sugar on snow, syrup samples, and more. Visit at 109 Main Street, North Woodstock, NH.
This gorgeous sugar house is open 10-5 on Saturday and 10-4 on Sunday during Maple Weekend, and you'll learn about the entire process of creating maple syrup (you can even walk around and look at the sap running from tapped trees). You can sample treats ranging from maple taffy to maple ice cream sundaes – yum!

This farm is open 10–5 both days of maple weekend for demonstrations, tours, and samples of treats ranging from maple cotton candy to maple bacon brittle. Find it at 40 Windy Hill Road, Claremont, NH.
This spot will be open both Saturday and Sunday 9-4 during Maple Weekend, but Saturday will be a real party, with demonstrations, live music, and plenty of samples. Visit at 311 Cram Hill Rd
