Tom and Olive Plant built the impressive estate in 1914. Plant, who had made his fortune in the shoe business, owned more than 6,000 acres between the Ossipee Mountains and Lake Winnipesaukee. In 1941 Plant died, and in 1959 Lucknow opened to the public as Castle In The Clouds.
