Often referred to as a ghost town, the small community of Goodsprings is famous for one thing in particular: the Pioneer Saloon. This little pub is full of interesting history and plenty of refreshing beverages. However, it’s also home to some of the best food in the West. This is far from your typical dive bar. The pub itself is definitely worth a visit to this remote ex-mining town.
At over a century old, the Pioneer Saloon is considered to be one of the oldest bars in the state. This place looks like it could be straight out of the Wild West and it has the bullet holes to prove it.
Stepping through the saloon's front door is like stepping back in time. Everything looks exactly like how an old saloon from the 1800s would look. The decor is impeccable!
This is truly unlike any bar you've been to before. The unique atmosphere is something you'll remember for years to come. The interior is decked out with old photographs, including those of Clark Gable and Carole Lombard. Gable drank here after hearing about his wife's (Lombard) death after she was victim to a nearby plane crash.
The unique history is what brings visitors to the saloon, but it's the mouthwatering food that brings them back again and again. The epic Ghost Burger has even been featured on Travel Channel. It's a jalapeno and bacon burger with a special "ghost sauce".
And they serve up some of the most delicious steaks you've ever tasted. Don't forget to bring your appetite! The porterhouse is 22 ounces and served with your choice of two amazingly tasty side dishes.
The saloon has turned into somewhat of a tourist attraction around these parts. Goodsprings is a town of only 200 or so people, but the saloon is always lively. They are constantly holding events in the form of live entertainment.
It helps that the patio boasts absolutely spectacular views of the surrounding desert. The fact that Pioneer Saloon exists just goes to show that you can find anything in the Nevada desert, including good food and good company!
