Are there any scenic country roads in Nebraska?

Nebraska is a state whose beauty often goes totally unnoticed. Sure, it’s home to plenty of open fields and prairies, but it’s also got some intriguing geological features and some super-gorgeous places. Oftentimes, just choosing a country road and driving it in its entirety produces pretty interesting results! When you’re in Nebraska, pretty much every road is a country road. Some of our favorites include the beautiful Outlaw Trail Scenic Byway, which is as filled with history as it is lengthy (it spans over 200 miles). We also love the Bridges to Buttes Scnic Byway, another long (but totally worth it) drive through some of the most interesting geology in the state.

Where are the most beautiful places in Nebraska?

Nebraska is full of beautiful places. In Valentine, you can experience a stunning, cascading waterfall at Smith Falls State Park. It’s a popular destination for photographers, and it’s obvious as to why! Chadron State Park is quite breathtaking, too, and you’ll want to gaze at the rolling hills and valleys of the Pine Ridge. Speaking of Pine Ridge: it’s all amazing. Seriously. You should check it all out! Of course, no Nebraska naturalist’s bucket list would be complete without Chimney Rock, too. What is fall in Nebraska like?

Though Nebraska summers are hot and humid, there’s much to say about the fall. Fall foliage reaches its peak every year right around Halloween, which is perfect, considering the holiday is the apex of fall. Temperatures begin to cool down, especially at night, and later in the season it becomes chilly enough for sweaters and cardigans to be back in style. Nebraskans embrace fall; you’ll find all kinds of corn mazes, pumpkin patches, and cider stands at plenty of family farms. Hayrides and haunted attractions are also very popular! It’s great place to be if you want a taste of “real” fall with all the traditional fixin’s.
