This little restaurant in Blair is notoriously challenging to find, but it's well worth the drive. It's right on the Missouri river, so try to get a window seat for the best view. This spot is famous for its steaks, which are so tender and juicy they just about fall right off your fork. 10740 Serenity Lane, Blair.

The most difficult thing about eating at Surfside Club is deciding between the fried chicken and the fried catfish. Both will pretty much melt in your mouth. And of course, you'll enjoy this delectable meal with a fabulous view of the river. They're closed for the season now, but they typically reopen in April. (And yes, if you were worried, the restaurant has been completely rebuilt and recovered from the devastating flood that shut it down for a while several years ago.) 14445 N. River Drive, Omaha.
