This is probably obvious already, but we think Nebraska is pretty much the greatest place in the country to visit and to live. There are so many terrific things about the Cornhusker State that it’s slowly and surely become the coolest state in America. Don’t believe us? Here are just a few of the reasons Nebraska is the best place to be.
1. Some of the most charming natural beauty anywhere.
People come here expecting cornfields from border to border, but there's a whole lot more to our beautiful home. We've got some of the most spectacular natural spots here.
Beaches - in Nebraska? Yes! And they're awesome. We've got lakes everywhere, and we like to think they're even better than those coastal beaches. We don't have to contend with sharks or rip tides out on the lake.
Our restaurants tend to focus on farm-fresh foods from right here in Nebraska, and you can taste it in every bite. You can find everything here from hearty, down-home meals to haute cuisine - and often the best food is hiding behind a deceptively plain restaurant exterior.
Back when everyone thought of Nebraska as the "Great American Desert," it was unfathomable that it would eventually become the perfect place for growing wine grapes. But we're now home to lots of wineries, some of which are producing beverages that have won awards all over the planet.
Lots of national acts got their start in Nebraska, but even more have passed through here and stopped off to play in one of our many great music venues. No matter what genre you prefer, there's always a great concert on the horizon to look forward to.
Nebraska's colleges and universities are well-respected, and their graduates have gone on to do amazing things in every possible profession. A bonus: Nebraska is a relatively inexpensive place to live while you're attending college.
College football is kind of our big thing, if you hadn't heard. But we also have excellent college teams competing in volleyball, basketball, and baseball, among others. We even host the College World Series of Baseball every summer - and have you caught a Stormchasers game yet?
People even come here from other states just to enjoy our awesome hunting and fishing opportunities. A wide variety of small and big game animals call Nebraska home, and if you've never spent a day fishing on a Nebraska lake, you just haven't lived.

9. Some of the friendliest people you'll ever meet.
"Nebraska Nice" isn't just a thing we put on bumper stickers, you know. We live it every day. You're sure to be greeted by plenty of new friends wherever you go - don't be afraid to say hi!
"The Good Life" is another slogan that we really take to heart. With a low cost of living, low crime, high quality of life, and a wealth of things to do, Nebraska really is the ideal place to be.
